The cost varies depending on the specific bond. By state law all Louisiana Bail Bondsman must charge no more, or less than 12% of the total bond + applicable jail fees & application fees.
For Example: John Doe has a bond of $10,000 at the East Baton Rouge Parish Jail
12% of $10,000 is $1200. The East Baton Rouge Parish Jail charges a a minimum of $30 and maximum of $60 in jail fees.
So at minimum John Does bond premium will be $1230.
We understand that is a steep price which is why we are proud to offer payment plans with as low as half of that down for approved applicants!
There are three options for release of a defendant:
A. Surety Bond (Bail Bond) You can use a bondsman to purchase a bond. You will then pay a fee of 12% of the total bond + applicable jail fees.
B.You can post cash for the full amount of the bond with the court or jail;
C. Release On Own Recognizance (O.R.) A watch commander or a judge can decide to let the defendant go on their ‘Own Recognizance’ (O.R.)
The paperwork takes approximately 10 to 30 minutes, depending on the complexity of the transaction. The release time can be one hour or less for local police stations and 6-12 hours in a county jail. Please remember that these times are not guaranteed, but general time frames.
We are proud of our minimal application process!
